About the Image Watermark

Adding a visible mark to an image before it is shared is a way of keeping your name attached to it. Your text is drawn over the picture on a canvas at the position, size, colour and opacity you set, and the combined result is exported as a new file, leaving the original untouched on your device. Photographers sharing proofs, designers circulating drafts and anyone posting work publicly are the usual users. Placement is a real decision rather than a detail: a small mark in a corner is trivially cropped away, while a semi-transparent mark running across a busy part of the image is much harder to remove cleanly. Be clear about what this achieves — the watermark is baked into the exported pixels and cannot be undone in that copy, and while it deters casual reuse, it is not copyright protection and does not prevent determined removal.

Things worth knowing
