Base64 Encoder & Decoder

Base64 re-expresses arbitrary bytes using 64 text-safe ASCII characters, which lets binary data travel through channels that only carry text — JSON fields, email bodies, data URIs, environment variables. Both directions run in the page using the browser's native routines, and you can encode typed text or a chosen file. Developers use it when embedding a small asset inline, when an API expects a Base64 field, or when decoding a token to see what is inside. The critical thing to understand is that Base64 is an encoding, not encryption: it provides no secrecy at all, and anyone who sees the string can decode it in a second, so never treat it as a way to hide a credential. Encoded output runs about a third larger than the input, which is the price of using only safe characters, and decoding fails on truncated strings or ones that lost their trailing padding.
