Countdown Timer

Set a target date and time and this shows the remaining days, hours, minutes and seconds, recalculated every second from your device's clock. It suits keeping a launch, an exam, a deadline or an event visible on a second screen while you work, where a live figure conveys urgency in a way a date in a calendar does not. Two behaviours define how it can be used. The countdown reads your device's clock and local timezone, so someone in another zone watching the same event sees a different remaining time unless the target has been agreed in a shared zone — worth stating explicitly when sharing a deadline with a distributed team. And it runs only while the page is open: nothing is saved between visits, the tab has to stay open to keep counting, and no notification is sent when it reaches zero.
