This counts weekdays rather than calendar days: every date in your range is stepped through and Saturdays and Sundays are excluded, giving the number of working days between a start and an end date. That is the count that matters for delivery estimates, service level agreements, notice periods and project planning, where a fortnight of calendar time is ten working days and the difference decides whether a deadline is met. The significant limitation is that public holidays are not deducted — this counts weekdays only, so a range spanning a national holiday will overstate the working days available, and holidays have to be subtracted by hand. It also assumes a Monday-to-Friday week, which does not hold everywhere, since parts of the Middle East treat Friday and Saturday as the weekend. For contractual deadlines, check whether your jurisdiction counts from the day after the start date.
